The ACSL SAMO is a swappable, NDAA-compliant thermal payload for the ACSL SOTEN that pairs a Teledyne FLIR Hadron™ 640R dual-sensor module with ACSL’s mission-first integration. Designed and manufactured in Japan, SAMO delivers radiometric thermal and high-resolution visible imaging for public safety, inspection, and disaster-response operations where clarity and trust are non-negotiable.

At its core, SAMO uses the Hadron 640R—an ITAR-free, NDAA-compliant module combining a 640 × 512 radiometric Boson® thermal camera with a 64 MP visible camera. Expect confident temperature reads and crisp edge detail with a thermal 32° HFOV (13.6 mm EFL) alongside a wide 67° HFOV visible channel for context-rich situational awareness.

Operational Clarity: 20× Zoom & MSX® Fusion

Teledyne FLIR MSX

Recent upgrades add a 20× optical zoom capability on the visible path, supporting long-standoff inspection and target confirmation. As part of ACSL’s collaboration with Teledyne FLIR, SAMO will gain MSX® (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging) compatibility, overlaying visible edge detail onto thermal in real time to reveal structure, labels, and scene context with minimal operator effort.

Field-Ready, SOTEN-Native

Built for the realities of field work, the Hadron module is IP54 sealed (with rear interfaces sealed), draws a typical ~1.8 W (≤2.9 W max), and keeps weight low at ≈56 g (≈1.98 oz). Compact dimensions of ≈50 × 36 × 43 mm (≈1.97 × 1.42 × 1.69 in) help preserve SOTEN’s nimble handling, while SAMO’s one-touch mount makes payload swaps fast between missions.

Workflow & Ecosystem

SAMO integrates tightly with the ACSL TAKEOFF ground-control application and the new TAITEN smart controller, giving pilots responsive gimbal and camera control, radiometric readouts, and clean hand-offs between operators. The Thermal by FLIR® collaboration provides a path to evolving capabilities, including Prism™ ISP features for contrast enhancement, turbulence mitigation, and AI-assisted detection.
