We like to fish this size on 8-12lb monofilament line with a soft tip rod. Don’t work it too fast, sometimes a slow methodical walk the dog action will get them to bite much better than a faster retrieve. If the fish are super fired up, speed it up and then pause it for just a split second.
There is no wrong way, just make sure you try different methods of retrieve if they aren’t hitting it and you know they are feeding on the surface. Sometimes going smaller to the Heddon Zara Puppy will get finicky fish to bite. If you need to draw fish from deeper water, going large with a Heddon Super Spook will entice them.
